Shipping Questions

TITAN Survival ships quite a large number of packages to international customers, and the easiest way to determine if we ship to your country and the costs involved is to follow these steps:

1. Add all items you are interested in to your shopping cart, so that our system can calculate the overall weight and required packaging.

2. Go through the check-out process, up to the point at which you enter your shipping address.  No payment information is needed at this point.

3. Based on your Shipping Address and the calculated package weight/size, our system will then auto-calculate the real-time shipping costs and display them to you.

4. You can decide at that point if you want to enter your payment information and complete the transaction

IMPORTANT:  We cannot guarantee that you will, or will not, be charged any customs taxes or duties by your government.  It is the Recipient's responsibility to pay these charges.  Since customs or import duties are charged once the package reaches its destination country, they are beyond our control.  This applies only for International orders.

Learn more about the expected usage for our Emergency Sleeping Bags.

TITAN Emergency Sleeping Bags are made from a single sheet of aluminized polyolefin film, and then sealed on the edges to create a sleeping-bag bivy.  The inside is used to help keep you warm in an emergency by reflecting your radiant body-heat back towards you, and the outside is colored for preference or situation.

IMPORTANT:  Emergency Sleeping Bags have no insulation and are not intended to functionally replace an insulated sleeping bag.  They are a one-time use, emergency survival item.

While TITAN Emergency Sleeping Bags are not designed to replace normal sleeping bags, they can be used in emergency situations to help prevent hypothermia or shock. They are the same type of emergency sleeping bags carried by military medics and EMTs.

Very similar to Mylar Survival Blankets, the bags work two-fold:

1. First by reflecting your radiant body heat back towards you when you have them wrapped around you.
2. Second, since they are made from a Polyethylene plastic, the film helps prevent wind and water from getting inside, and therefore keeps the warm air around you from escaping.

We have personally tested the product down to 48˚F, while 3rd party tests have gone down to 42˚F.Since there is no inherent insulation in the design, it is recommended that you use the sleeping bags / bivvies’ in conjunction with layered clothing.  Also, since the bag is made from plastic, do not seal yourself inside without an air supply.

What is the black coating on the SurvivorSteel ferro-rod?

SurvivorSteel is a man-made synthetic mixture of iron and cerium, and as such is susceptible to rusting or oxidizing over a period of time.  Because of this, we coat our SurvivorSteel ferrocerium rods with a dark grey protective coating that prevents corrosion during shipping and retail storage.

SurvivorSteel will work out of the box to create the expected shower of high-temperature sparks, but it works even better if you condition it before you need it.

To condition your SurvivorSteel (or any ferrocerium rod for that matter), simply scrape the grey coating off of one side of the ferro-rod prior to needing it. A functional strip of roughly 1/4 inch wide, going down one side of the rod, will work perfectly.

To prevent this strip from oxidizing over time, it is recommended that you periodically maintain your SurvivorSteel by wiping down the ferro-rod with WD40 or an equivalent protectant. This will create a thin, protective layer over the surface of the exposed material, and will help keep your SurvivorSteel performing like new.

TITAN SurvivorSteel is our made from a proprietary mixture of Ferrocerium, to maximize the features that we feel are the most important in a fire-starter rod. SurvivorSteel's design also incorporates a braided SurvivorCord handle and an emergency whistle.

Ferrocerium itself is a man-made synthetic mixture of iron and cerium, and is designed to be a better, more capable fire starter than old-school flint and steel.  Flint and steel is fairly temperamental and can be hard to use unless you have premium tinder available. Ferrocerium on the other hand, can be used in any weather condition and produces a shower of sparks in excess of 3,000 F.

Our patented SurvivorCord is designed to be an emergency resource for fishing line, multi-purpose wire, and fire tinder - and our SurvivorCord Keychains are designed to be functional while at the same time giving you an emergency cache of 6 feet of each of these materials.

So If you ever get into a situation where you need these resources, you can unravel or disassemble the SurvivorCord Keychain by following these steps.

SurvivorCord FAQ

SurvivorCord and WarriorCord are both MIL-SPEC paracord products sold by TITAN Survival, with the difference being the construction of the cord. While WarriorCord is slightly more pliable than SurvivorCord, both are used quite often for premium paracord crafts.

WarriorCord is our standard MIL-SPEC 550 paracord, that meets or exceeds the government's legacy MIL-C-5040-H, Type III parachute cord specifications. We exceed MIL-C-5040-H Type III Specs by using stronger Nylon than required, we pre-shrink for longer than required, and we offer more colors than called out in the specs.

Exceeds MIL-SPEC Paracord Standards

Core: 7 Individual 3-Ply 100% Nylon Braids

Sheath: 34 Kernmantle Braided 100% Nylon Strands

Tensile Strength of > 620 lbs.

Preshrunk to Minimize Post-Purchase Shrinkage

Mildew / UV Resistant

Light / Heat Resistant

Color Fast / Resists Fading

Continuous Cordage / No Splices

SurvivorCord is our patented MIL-SPEC 550 paracord that begins life as WarriorCord, but then we add three extra potentially life-saving threads to the paracord core, and then reinforce the sheath to be able to handle those increased threads. So SurvivorCord is basically:

WarriorCord + Fishing Line + Snare Wire + Waterproof Fire Tinder

Exceeds MIL-SPEC Paracord Standards

Core: 7 Individual 3-Ply 100% Nylon Braids

Sheath: 36 Kernmantle Braided 100% Nylon Strands

Integrated Strand: Fishing Line

Integrated Strand: 30 AWG Snare Wire

Integrated Strand: Waterproof Fire Tinder

Our original patented SurvivorCord was created for a former colleague of mine Operating in Afghanistan in 2013, and then we later released it to the public in 2014 after our patent was filed. Over time though, one of the most requested features from the Bushcraft and Survival Skills communities was to replace the multi-purpose Brass utility wire with something less rigid like Kevlar. Additionally, we had a lot of requests for both braided fishing line and increased tensile strength. So in 2019, we released SurvivorCord XT (Extreme) to help satisfy those needs/requests.

The specific differences between our original SurvivorCord and newest SurvivorCord XT cords are below:

- Based off of MIL-SPEC, TYPE III, 550 Paracord
- We then add 3 Survival Strands to the core:
> Proprietary Waxed Jute Fire Tinder

> 25 LB Clear Mono-Filament Fishing Line

> 30 AWG, 12LB Multi-purpose Brass Wire

- Tensile Strength: AVG 620 LBS

- Protected by U.S. Patents: 9,528,204 (Paracord + Waxed Jute + Fishing Line) & 9,926,652 (Paracord + Wire)

SURVIVORCORD XT (Launched in 2019)

- Based off of MIL-SPEC, TYPE IV, 750 Paracord

- We then add 3 Survival Strands to the core:

> Proprietary Waxed Jute Fire Tinder

> 25 LB Braided Green Fishing Line

> 110 LB Multi-purpose Kevlar Strand

- Tensile Strength: AVG 1,026 LBS

- Protected by U.S. Patent: 9,528,204 (Paracord + Waxed Jute + Fishing Line)

Black Steel SurvivorCord takes our popular SurvivorCord to the next level by replacing the 30 AWG Brass Snare Wire with a 30 AWG Stainless Steel Snare Wire, effectively doubling the strength of the wire in the same package.

Other than that, there is no functional difference.

Almost all of TITAN's paracord products contain an internal core braid of two white strands and one red strand. This candy-cane striped braid is NOT a fire starter strand, or a fuse, but rather our unique Manufacturer's Marker ID. Each of these strands is 100% Nylon and exceeds MIL-SPEC standards for strength and durability. The only exceptions to this rule are light colors like WHITE and YELLOW paracords, in which we replace the red with white so that the red doesn't show through the sheath.

We have found that most of the companies trying to sell fake versions of our patented SurvivorCord forget to use this red strand, and so we can detect fakes easily when we see them. We also have a few other unique measures incorporated into our cordage, but the Manufacturer’s ID strand is the easiest to see.

SurvivorCord is sealed just like any other paracord, with one minor addition: Cutting the snare wire to length. Here are the steps we use in-house:

1. Cut your SurvivorCord to the desired length.

2. Pull the sheath back on each end by about 1/4 - 1/2 inch to expose the internal components.

3. Clip the wire (and jute if you wish) so that it is just short of the desired length.

4. Pull the sheath back into position.

5. Seal the ends with a lighter.

6. This should embed the slightly shortened wire into the melted end of the cord.

NOTE: Some people worry that the waxed jute will continue to burn like a fuse...this is not the case. The waxed jute will snuff out and melt into the ends, just like the nylon threads.
