Do you ever get frustrated trying to open a zipper on your back pack? A simple solution is to create a zipper pull out of paracord. It is simple and fun and you can customize it with any colors to fit your style. All you need is a total of thirty inches of paracord, scissors, and a lighter. You can create a zipper pull out of two different colors by measuring out fifteen inches of each and fusing them by melting the ends and sticking them together.

To get started, create what is called a bite by folding your paracord into two equal lengths and pinching the paracord together about three inches down from the bend that marks the center of the paracord. If you are using two colors, where you fused will be in the middle at the top of the loop. With the loop facing down and the ends facing up, take the right side and create a loop and place the strand over the paracord where you are pinching towards the left. Hold it in place and now take the left side and go over the right sides end, behind the paracord where you are pinching and through the loop on the right side from underneath. Pull on both ends to tighten the knot down, keeping the loop in place. The knot you have just created is called a cobra knot. Create a second cobra not except this time starting on the left side.

Continue making cobra knots, being sure to switch starting sides after each knot, until there aren’t enough of the ends to make another knot. Cut the remaining ends of paracord as close to the cobra knot as possible and melt to the cobra knot by pressing down with the side of the lighter. To attach to a zipper squeeze the loop closed and work it through the hole in the zipper and then put the braided end through the loop and pull tight.

Now that you have the basic knowledge of how to create a zipper pull out of paracord, you can customize it by playing with different types of knots and colors of paracord. You could also attach a carabiner to the loop after attaching it to the zipper to create a place to put anything from a water bottle to a compass.  TITAN Paracord is perfect for all of your paracord projects.

one thing to add to the video. Some pulls are too small the tread the finished loop through the pull. But you can thread one side through, even up the sides then tie the knots.
