You will need a 5’ section of paracord for the part the will go around your neck, a 4’ section of paracord for the snake knot, and a 1’ section of paracord for the Celtic knot. You can do this without a peg board but will much easier with one like the one in the video.
To begin, fold the 5’ sections of paracord in half, and about 8” from the center mark tie a simple overhand knot with both sides. Place the loop on the jig pegs with the knot at the top, and adjust the jig so the loop is fairly tight. Take the 4’ section of paracord and fold it in half to find the center mark. Place the center mark behind the 5’ section of paracord that is on the jig, with a working end on each side. The 4’ section of paracord should no longer be folded in half.
To start making the snake knot, twist a loop with the left side over itself and over the top center cords attached to the jig. Then take the right side and work the end through the loop from top to bottom and the right side of the center cords. Take the right working cord, pull it to the left side, and then work it through the loop again from top to bottom, also on the right side of the center cords. Tighten the knot.
Bring the right working cord around the back of the center cords to the left side. Loosen the right side of the last knot and work the right working cord from the left over the left working cord and the two center cords, and then through the loop from top to bottom. Tighten the knot down, keeping it symmetrical on both sides.
Next take the left working cord over the top of the center cords and the right working cord and around the back of the center cords back towards the left side. Loosen the loop of the last knot on the left side, and work the left working cord through the loop from back to front. Continue this process alternating sides with each knot until you have made 14 knots. The right side will always go through the top of the loop and the left side will always go through the bottom of the loop.
Once you are done, remove the work from the jig pegs and cut the remaining cord of the snake knot and melt the ends into the knot. When singing the ends into the knot, be careful not to burn or melt the center cords. Untie the first knot made on the center cords, and retie it a few inches farther up from the snake knot.
Put the work back onto the jig pegs with the knot on the bottom. Place a second peg on the top and bring the ends up through the center of the pegs, and then over the pegs to their respective sides. You should have a right and left cord to work with. The next step is to start creating the Solomon bar knot.
To create the Solomon bar knot, take the left working cord over the center cords towards the right, creating a loop on the left side. Then take the right working cord over the left working cord, under the center cords, and then through the loop on the left side. Tighten the knot to the two top pegs. Repeat the process alternating sides with each knot until you have made 6 knots. Cut the remaining cord and melt the ends into the last knot, being careful to knot burn or melt the center cords.
Remove the work from the pegs and pull down on the center cords to tighten down the loops that were on the pegs. Take the 1’ section of paracord and at one end twist the cord over itself to create a loop. Create a second loop next to the first, slightly overlapping. The loops should resemble a pretzel.
Take the other end of the cord and put it through the second loop from top to bottom, through the center where the loops overlap from back to front, and then through first loop from top to bottom. Bring the cord back around to the right side, and through the loop the same cord made on the right side. Then work the end through the center where the two loops overlap. Don’t tighten the knot yet.
Put the knot over the lanyard and tighten it down by slowly working the slack out of the knot. This will be what you adjust the lanyard with when you are wearing it. Cut the remaining cords from the knot and melt the ends into it, being careful to only melt the ends. Remove the knot that is on the center cords and your paracord E cigarette lanyard is complete and ready for use.
